Compassion All Animals Have a Face, Feelings and a Family

Duncan was a
beautiful and sweet young kitty that we rescued from a local nursery. The
people that worked there had been feeding him fries, chips and bread crust off
of their sandwiches. He was very thin and obviously not getting proper
nutrition, so we began going up there daily to feed him. We saw such
potential in Duncan because he trusted people for the most part and just wanted
someone to love him. We set out a trap with some tuna, caught him within
about five minutes, and brought him home to be a part of our family. He
just fit right in and seemed so grateful for his new home. His new life
entailed sleeping on our bed, always having more food available than he could
eat, getting all the affection he could stand and playing with the other
kitties.
Gone were the days of worrying about predators, strange people or bad weather conditions. Duncan finally got to live the life of a normal, indoor cat that he had always deserved. After only a year with us, he died suddenly one night with no warning of a heart attack. Given his young age, the shock of losing him and the love we felt for him, we were devastated. We were so thankful for the time we got to share with Duncan. We just wish God would have given us more time with him. If anything, we are glad we were able to show him the love he had always deserved. He was extremely affectionate and loved us in return. There will never be another Duncan. Never. But there are many homeless cats out there with the potential to be loved and give love. They are dying for someone to reach out to them and give them a home. I can think of no better gift to give an animal than opening your home and heart to them. We will continue to help other cats in Duncan's name, to honor his sweet and loving spirit.
Every copy of Compassion Is A Choice purchased benefits the feral cats that we feed.
